Spencer Johnson, Risk Management Consultant, StoneX Group, Inc., FCM Division: To me, 'boots on the ground' is very simple. It means being there for the customer in real life. What we want to do is learn about their business because it gives you the behind-the-scenes information that you don't otherwise have. The more we know about how that process works for them, the easier it is for us to devise a strategy for them to lay off the risk.
Oscar Schaps: Our customers get the benefit of knowing that we are out here in the fields, so at the end of the day, they realize that we are understanding what everybody else is going through.

Spencer Johnson: There's something else I think that happens when you get to sit down face to face with a client. Not only does it allow you to see the full gamut of their physical operations, but also it just creates a more personal relationship. It helps develop trust between you and the client.
