By Hugh Leask

Pictet Alternative Advisors, the $40.1 billion alternative investment arm of Geneva-headquartered global wealth management giant Pictet Group, has hired Trudi Usher Boardman as head of hedge funds, as the firm looks to further institutionalize its business and strengthen its hedge fund footprint.

Boardman joins from Cambridge Associates, where she had been chief investment officer and specialist investment director across hedge funds, private credit and total portfolios, responsible for discretionary and non-discretionary client portfolio relationships.

Based in Geneva, she reports to Elif Aktuğ, managing partner at Pictet Group and CEO of Pictet Alternative Advisors. Boardman replaces Heinrich Merz, who recently joined Oxford University Endowment Management as managing director.

At Pictet Alternative Advisors, Boardman will lead a team of 12 hedge fund specialists and investment professionals managing $7.5 billion of assets managed across single and multi-manager hedge fund strategies.

Prior to her role at Cambridge, Boardman was earlier a senior research analyst and portfolio manager at Partners Advisers SA and at Morgan Stanley, where she covered global hedge fund clients and European institutional investors.

Commenting on the appointment, Elif Aktuğ said: “Trudi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to lead our team of senior investment professionals in the multi-manager hedge fund team at PAA, as well as to institutionalise and grow the franchise further.”

She added: “Trudi’s appointment is valuable for PAA as we continue providing tailored hedge funds strategies to a range of institutional, wholesale and family office clients.”

Pictet’s expanded asset range

Pictet Alternatives Advisors manages $40.1 billion in direct and indirect investments for a range of institutional investors and private wealth clients.

This comprises $27.1 billion in private equity, in both primary and secondary investments and co-investments; $7.5 billion in single and multi-manager hedge fund strategies spanning both UCITS and offshore structures; $4.9 billion in U.S. and European real estate assets, including prime, core, value-add and opportunistic investments; and $600 million in private debt.

Overall, the Pictet Group now has $713 billion in total assets across wealth management, asset management, alternative investment solutions and related asset services.
