CoffeeNetwork - Arabica prices on the InterContinental Exchange are 0.90 lower based on the March contract, last seen at 346.70. Volume is light with 7,894 contracts at the time of writing. The May contract is also 0.25 lower at 330.55 with 5,309 contracts.
The global coffee futures market continues to navigate a complex mix of weather‑driven supply expectations, currency movements, and shifting export dynamics. As of mid‑January 2026, both Arabica and Robusta futures show notable volatility influenced by Brazil’s crop outlook, Vietnam’s export strength, and broader macroeconomic pressures.
Arabica futures have softened slightly, trading below $3.45/lb, their lowest level since December 19, 2025. This downturn stems largely from optimism surrounding Brazil’s upcoming 2026/27 harvest, with forecasts calling for broadly favorable weather, including increased rainfall in major growing regions. Although irregular rains persist in key sub‑regions like Cerrado Mineiro and Mogiana, conditions remain significantly improved compared to the past five climate‑challenged seasons.
Robusta prices have held more firmly. Vietnam, the world’s largest supplier of Robusta, continues to shape market dynamics. The country’s 2025 exports surged 17.5% year‑over‑year to 1.58 million metric tons, adding bearish pressure to the Robusta complex by boosting global availability. Still, not all indicators are bearish: tightening ICE‑monitored inventories have provided some upward support to Robusta and helped stabilize prices despite ample Vietnamese supply.
Commodities are mixed today. The US economy expanded at an annualized rate of 4.4% in Q3 2025, slightly above the initial estimate of 4.3% and marking the strongest GDP growth since Q3 2023. Initial jobless claims in the US inched higher by 1,000 from the previous week to 200,000 on the week ending January 17th. Personal spending in the United States rose by 0.5% from the previous month to an annualized $21.410 trillion in November of 2025, extending the 0.5% increase from the previous month, according to data that was delayed due to the US government shutdown.
Brent Crude Oil slipped 1.43% to 64.31 and Spot Gold future inched 0.12% higher to 4,837.69.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 0.51% higher to 49,327.94 and the Stoxx Europe 600 Index was last seen at 608.32, up 0.94%.

Daily coffee report

August 11 – It was generally a quiet night for the markets until early this morning when a headline hit that Iran and Oman were close to reaching a deal. Stock futures rallied, while the dollar index followed Treasury yields lower, along with active selling in the energy- and food-based commodities. The headline had limited impact though in a world that has become skeptical of promises of peace. Stock futures remain steady to firmer at this hour, while the VIX trades near 16 – just above 2026 lows. The dollar index is trading near 99.8 this morning, after recovering from its early morning selloff over the following hour of trade. Yields on 10-year Treasuries are trading near 4.69%, while yields on 2-year Treasuries trade near 4.22%. WTI crude oil is trading near $82 per barrel at this hour, while Brent trades near $88. The grain and oilseed markets are mostly weaker, after failing to recover from this morning’s early selloff that started in the crude oil market.
