Bogota (Coffee Network ) The Colombian National Committee of Coffee Growers endorsed the financial evolution of the National Coffee Fund (FoNC) under the administration of the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC), led by its outgoing director Roberto Velez Vallejo.

The union representatives of all the coffee departments, the general manager of the FNC and representatives of the government, led by Finance Minister , have seats in the National Committee of Coffee Growers, and it is in charge of setting the country's coffee policy.

The National Coffee Fund ended with revenues of USD$ 767.7 million as of October, 22% more than in the same period of 2021 mainly from the sale of green and freeze-dried coffee), and that the net result for the Fund was USD 57.4 million, despite having had to cover the expenditures corresponding to the pension liabilities of the of fleet Mercante Gran Colombiana for  US $12.6 million.

There was also a recount of the accumulated results of the FoNC from 2015 until the end of October of the current year, where it is highlighted that the management under the administration of the general manager of the FNC, Roberto Vélez Vallejo, accumulated favorable results in the finances of the FoNC that amounted to USD$ 222 million, excluding the impact of the obligation of Grancolombian Merchant Fleet.

It is noteworthy that, including the payments and provisions of the Gran Colombian Merchant Fleet, the accumulated result since 2015 was$ 26 million.

This positive balance of the FoNC, which could have been better, also occurred despite the non-compliance of some future coffee deliveries, an issue that the Federation of Coffee Growers has been diligently managed, the national committee of coffee growers.

The National Committee of Coffee Growers also highlighted and appreciated the commitment and achievements of the current general management to clean up the FoNC's finances, as shown by the figures analyzed.

"I express my great appreciation for Roberto Vélez Vallejo and I congratulate him for his excellent management as general manager of the FNC," said the Minister of Finance and Public Credit, José Antonio Ocampo, who said on behalf of the President of the Republic that "it is not view of the Government that the manager of the FNC has left the FoNC with some deficit".

During Vélez Vallejo's seven years in office as general manager of the FNC, the institution achieved historic results in economic, production, social, environmental and governance matters, in line with its sustainable value strategy, also clearly structured in the current administration.

Colombia's leftist president Gustavo Petro requested Velez to resign from his post.
