Colombia Home To 2022 Producer & Roaster Forum

Coffee Network (Bogota)- The Producer & Roaster Forum will be held in Colombia in 2022 , luring roasters and producers from all over the world at the Plaza Mayor in Medellín

The Producer & Roaster Forum will be held between 30th June - 1st July, but roasters and buyers will travel along Colombian coffee-producing regions between June 26 and June 29. They will visit traditional coffee-producing provinces such as Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Antioquia among others, Julio Guevara, Director of Producer & Roasters told Coffee Network.

By traveling to Colombia, roasters from around the world will be supported to build long-lasting friendships and business relationships with the farmers who produce their coffees, PRF said.

PRF Colombia 2022 will be the fifth of its kind. Previous host countries include El Salvador, Brazil, Guatemala, and Honduras.

“Groundbreaking valuable events at origin have always been lacking in the coffee industry. We need to take the conversation and platform to where they have more impact – a coffee-producing country,” Guevara said. “We are giving the opportunity to many producers to meet global roasters,” he added.

Virtual PRF facilitated more than US $10 million in sales in Honduras.

With more than 5,000 people from over 50 countries expected to attend PRF Colombia, the number of coffee sales is expected to increase even further.

So far 84, international roasters have confirmed their attendance to the event. PRF expects that over 150 roasters attend the fair . In addition, 1,400 people between producers, baristas and exhibitors have confirmed their attendance.

After the Origin Trip, both roasters and producers will meet at the two-day PRF Colombia 2022 forum in Medellín.

This will include an extensive programme of talks, educational workshops, cuppings, presentations from global industry leaders, and networking opportunities for both producers and roasters.

The conference will analyze topics such as markets, coffee prices, market trends. In addition, coffee entrepreneurs and growers can attend conferences about how to manage and grow their coffee business. International speakers will also debate about growing emerging markets such as the Middle East, what would happen if the market runs out of coffee, among others, Guevara noted.

“This is a window to globalize Colombia, and bring all that international vision to Colombia,” Guevara added.

Colombia is the third largest coffee producing country in the world by volume and is home to more than 500,000 producers. Colombia produced 12.6 million bags of 60-kg last year, down from the average  of 14 million bags/year for the previous six years.

Perspective: Morning Commentary for August 7

August 7 – The U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 23k jobs in July, dramatically below market expectations of an 80k increase and marking the worst Non-Farm Payrolls print since February. Furthermore, May and June were both revised sharply downward, with combined revisions showing 103k fewer jobs than previously reported. Outside of the healthcare sector, which added 22k jobs in July, the losses were very broad-based. Government payrolls saw the largest decline, shedding 53k jobs in July, the largest seen since October 2025, while June was revised down to show a loss of 10k jobs as well. The private sector at least saw growth, adding 30k jobs in July, now matching the month prior after it was revised down from the 49k initially reported, and substantially missing forecasts of 78k jobs being added. This is a sharp reversal in course from the largely better than expected U.S. labor data seen earlier this week.

Perspective: Morning Commentary for August 6

August 6 – This morning’s stronger-than-expected U.S. labor data offered markets some relief, reinforcing confidence in the economy while giving the Fed greater flexibility to raise rates should inflationary pressures reaccelerate in next week’s July data. Stock futures are pointing to a mixed open to start the day, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq showing the most weakness. The VIX has fallen notably from yesterday’s spike above 18.4 as it starts the day hovering just below the 16-mark. The dollar is quietly higher as it trades just above 99.8, holding in the tight range seen thus far this week as traders continue to digest data to shape expectations for the Fed’s next move, which we’ll dive into in more depth below. Long-term treasury yields have relaxed slightly from their recent spike, with 30-year yields starting the day trading just above 5.19%, while 10-year yields trade above 4.64%, and 2-year yields sit below 4.22%. Crude oil is modestly higher to start the session after sharp declines earlier in the week, with nearby WTI up 1.8% to trade at $76.40 and nearby Brent up 2.4% to trade at $81.40. Meanwhile, the ags are quietly mixed to start the day.
