Colombia’s Coffee Production Jumps 43% in June, Second Consecutive month of Rise after Months of Declines

(Adds export figures)

Bogota (Coffee Network) – Colombia’s coffee production rebounded sharply in June, ending a prolonged downward trend as output rose 43% year-on-year to1.304 million 60-bags, according to data from the National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC).

The increase marks the second annual gain since May on month after several consecutive months of drops since September 2025 and follows several months of weather-related disruptions that delayed harvesting across the country’s coffee-growing regions.

June’s production was also significantly higher than the 1.06 million in May and 697,000 bags harvested in April.

Coffee output in April-June reached 3.06 million bags, up from 2.43 million in the same period last year.

“The result reflects a delayed first-semester harvest, as fruit maturation was affected by persistent rainfall across large coffee-growing regions of the country, “ German Bahamon said on X confirming that the recovery in the harvest  had been anticipated in previous reports.

Despite the strong rebound in June, cumulative indicators continue to show the impact of these weather conditions on national output. Over the last 12 months, from July 2025 to June 2026, coffee production totaled 13.041 million bags, down 9% from the previous 12-month period when it yielded 14.389 million.

Likewise, year-to-date production reached 5.575 million bags, compared with 6.212 million bags in the same period of 2025, representing a 10% decline.

In the coffee year, production totaled 9.282 million bags, down from 11.110 million bags.

FNC will continue to closely monitor, with rigorous technical analysis, the evolution of the harvest and the weather conditions that may affect it, as well as the impacts on prices resulting from exchange rate movements and fluctuations in coffee prices on the futures market.

The surge in the Colombian peso this year is squeezing coffee exporters' income especially after the first round of presidential elections, at times coffee prices also decline from last year’s record, wiping out the windfall that farmers just to obtain.
The increase in production costs due to high prices of fertilizers has also eroded revenues of producers and exporters.

Exports Fall

Coffee exports in June totaled 1.049 million bags, down 3% from the 1.085 million exported in the same period last year. Exports are higher than the 894,000 bags exported in May.

However, exports during the first half of the year amounted to 5.23 million bags, down 18% from the corresponding period of 2025.

In the coffee year, Colombia exported 8.562 million bags, down 14% from the 9.925 million bags in the same period last year. In the 12-month, it shipped 11.981 million bags, down from 12.972 million,.

Estimated coffee imports over the last 12 months stood at 1.57 million bags, while domestic consumption reached 2.314 million bags.

In June, it imported 181,000 bags, unchanged from June 2025.
