Colombia Shipped 12.22 Million Bags Of Green Coffee in 2025, Led by North America

Bogota (Coffee Network) –Colombia exported 12.22 million 60kg bags of green coffee in 2025, up 7% on the year, with the US accounting for 40.1% of total shipments, according to figures from the coffee exporters association Asoexport.

Colombia, the world’s third-largest coffee producer, shipped 4.898 million bags to the US, an 8% increase from 4.522 million bags in the previous year.

Canada was the second-largest destination, receiving 963,821 bags, up 5% from 915,398 bags in 2024.

Overall, North America accounted for 48.8% of Colombia’s total coffee exports.

The European Union followed with 26.7% of total shipments. Germany led European purchases, importing 897,206 bags, up 9% from 824,307 bags in 2024.
Belgium followed with 888,393 bags, down 2% on the year.
The Netherlands imported 292,393 bags, up 47% from 198,532 bags, while Spain purchased 287,956 bags, up 9%.

Asia slips

Coffee exports to Japan, South Korea, China and Malaysia fell 1.3% on the year, accounting for 13% of total exports.

Shipments to Japan rose 14% to 644,349 bags, while exports to China declined 25% to 348,306 bags. Exports to South Korea increased 4% to 484,218 bags.

Main exporters

The National Federation of Coffee Growers (FNC) remained the largest exporter, shipping 2.700 million bags, up 19.6% from 2.258 million bags a year earlier, according to Asoexport figures.

Among private exporters, Olam Agro Colombia led shipments with 1.129 million bags, up 18.1% from 956,406 bags in 2024.

Sucafina Colombia exported 873,991 bags, down from 1.080 million bags the previous year.
Carcafé shipped 870,492 bags, compared with 910,591 bags in 2024.
Louis Dreyfus Colombia exported 817,237 bags, up 32.4% on the year.
Racafé shipped 815,234 bags, up from 652,756 bags in 2024.
Condor Specialty Coffee exported 745,342 bags, an increase of 19.7%.
Expocafé, the exporter of coffee cooperatives, shipped 99,050 bags, down from 330,506 bags in 2024.

Overall coffee exports

Total coffee exports in the 2025 calendar year reached 13.14 million 60kg bags of green coffee equivalent, up 6.5% compared with 2024.

Production was estimated to have declined 2%, with a harvest value close to COP 24.4 trillion (US$6.42 billion), while the reference price for domestic shipments rose 51% year to date.

Coffee remained a key export product. In 2025, it accounted for 11.7% of Colombia’s total exports, 22% of non-mining and energy exports, and 38% of exports from the agriculture, food and beverage group.

Strong export performance was supported by the shipment of consolidated inventories from late 2024, which helped meet international demand despite lower production. Exportable supply remained robust, underpinned by a highly competitive domestic support price, averaging above COP 2.8mn per load.

Globally, adverse weather conditions in Brazil and Vietnam created a supply deficit, pushing New York coffee prices above $3.00/lb for most of the year. As a result, Colombia’s coffee export value reached a record $6.48bn.

Industrialized coffee

Colombia exported 918,000 bags of industrialized coffee in 2025, representing 7% of total coffee exports. Of this total, instant coffee accounted for 695,000 bags (76%), roasted coffee for 162,000 bags (18%), and coffee extracts for 61,000 bags (6%)

Perspective: Morning Commentary for August 10

August 10 – The world commodity markets and economy remains at risk amid two wars this morning. Tensions continue to escalate in both the Middle East and the Black Sea – risking pulling other countries into the conflicts. Stocks are down modestly this morning as we start a week of trade in which we’ll see key inflation and retail sales data following a weak jobs report this past Friday. Yet, stocks continue to trade just below record high levels, with the VIX trading near 2026 lows just above 15. The dollar index is trading near 99.7. Yields on 10-year Treasuries are trading near 4.68%, while yields on 2-year Treasuries are trading near 4.23%. The energy and food-based markets are firmer today amid the escalated risks. WTI crude oil is trading near $80, while Brent trades near $85 per barrel. Double-digit gains in the winter wheat markets lead the way for higher grain and oilseed prices.

Perspective: Morning Commentary for August 7

August 7 – The U.S. economy unexpectedly lost 23k jobs in July, dramatically below market expectations of an 80k increase and marking the worst Non-Farm Payrolls print since February. Furthermore, May and June were both revised sharply downward, with combined revisions showing 103k fewer jobs than previously reported. Outside of the healthcare sector, which added 22k jobs in July, the losses were very broad-based. Government payrolls saw the largest decline, shedding 53k jobs in July, the largest seen since October 2025, while June was revised down to show a loss of 10k jobs as well. The private sector at least saw growth, adding 30k jobs in July, now matching the month prior after it was revised down from the 49k initially reported, and substantially missing forecasts of 78k jobs being added. This is a sharp reversal in course from the largely better than expected U.S. labor data seen earlier this week.
