The RBA’s 25 basis point rate cut to 3.85% reflects a cautious outlook amid slowing growth, softer labor markets, and more balanced inflation risks. The central bank signaled the possibility of faster easing, which led markets to bring forward expectations for further cuts, causing Australian bond yields and the currency to decline.

With wages, jobs, inflation, growth and spending data all landing before the next policy meeting, the risk sits with front end pricing that still treats a hike as remote.
