USD/CHF has broken above the 2026 opening range with the bulls now testing the first major technical hurdle at fresh yearly highs.

Swiss Franc Technical Forecast: USD/CHF Weekly Trade Levels
- USD/CHF has broken the yearly opening range with the rally extending more than 6.5% off the yearly low.
- Price is now testing the first major resistance hurdle since the breakout- risk for inflection.
- A sustained move higher would reinforce the bullish outlook while failure could trigger a pullback within the broader recovery trend.
- U.S. inflation data later this week may be the catalyst that drives the next move.
- Resistance 8103, 8200/15 (key), 8406/16– Support 8009, 7927/34 (key), 7830s
USD/CHF has surged from the May lows after breaking above the yearly opening range, with the rally now testing a major resistance zone near uptrend resistance. The advance has strengthened the broader recovery, but price is approaching the first major hurdle where the threat of a larger price inflection rises. With key U.S. inflation data on tap this week, the reaction here may offer important guidance on whether bulls can extend the breakout or if a pullback begins to unfold. Battle lines drawn on the USD/CHF weekly technical chart.
Swiss Franc Price Chart – USD/CHF Weekly

Chart Prepared by Michael Boutros, Sr. Technical Strategist; USD/CHF on TradingView
Technical Outlook: In my last Swiss Franc Technical Forecast we noted that USD/CHF was consolidating, “just above support and the broader focus is on a breakout of the 7769-7935 range. From a trading standpoint, losses should be limited to the monthly open IF price is heading higher on this stretch with weekly close above 7935 needed to suggest a larger reversal is underway here.” USD/CHF ripped higher days later with a four-week rally extending more than 3.7% from the monthly low.
The advance is testing confluent resistance this week at the 61.8% extension of the broader 2022 decline at 8103. Note that the 75% parallel of the May pitchfork converges on this threshold and over the next few weeks and a breach / weekly close above is needed to fuel the next leg towards more significant resistance at 8200/14. This region is defined by the 100% extension of the January advance, the 38.2% retracement of the 2025 decline, and converges on the upper parallel throughout July. Look for a larger reaction there IF reached. Subsequent resistance eyed at the 2024 low-close and the 2023 low-week close / 2024 open at 8407/16.
Initial weekly support rests back at the March high-week close (HWC) at 8009 with broader bullish invalidation now raised to the yearly open and the 52-week moving average at 7927/34. Losses below this pivot zone would suggest a more significant high is in place and a larger reversal is underway. Slope support rests near 7830s and ultimately a break of the May uptrend is needed to threaten another test of the 2011 low-week close (LWC) at 7769.
Bottom line: USD/CHF has extended more than 6.5% off the yearly lows with a breakout of the yearly opening-range highs now testing uptrend resistance at a key pivot zone. From a trading standpoint, a good zone to reduce portions of long-exposure / raise protective stops- losses should be limited to 8009 IF price is heading higher on this stretch with ac close above 8103 needed to fuel the next leg of the advance.
Keep in mind we get the release of key U.S. inflation data this week with the May Personal Consumption Expenditures on tap Thursday. This is the central bank’s preferred measure of inflation and with Chair Warsh reaffirming the Fed's commitment to returning inflation to its 2% target, the PCE data could be critical in shaping expectations for the policy outlook. Interest rate markets are currently pricing in a 74% probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike in September. Stay nimble into the releases and watch the weekly close for guidance here. EUR/USD forecast: All eyes on Warsh at Jackson Hole - Forex Friday
For much of this week, the EUR/USD has been edging lower with the US dollar regaining some ground after last week’s sell-off that was triggered, in part, by the bond market worries. Investors have been unwilling to bet further against the US dollar so far this week ahead of Kevin Warsh’s keynote speech at the Jackson Hole summit, due later today.

AUD/CAD breakout puts the Bradman barrier in sight
A bullish breakout has pushed AUD/CAD to its highest level since early 2021. Whether it can clear 0.9994 may determine if the move extends well above parity.
